I quite frequently go to local concerts and listen to a few small, local bands. I’ve had some people asking me to recommend bands from the local scene, so here’s a list I’ve compiled of all the bands/artists (or the ones I can think of!) that you should totally check out, because they’re pretty great.
Some of these bands have broken up or split apart, but I’m putting them on here anyway because they still made amazing music <3

These guys are SO great. They’re probably one of the most successful local bands that I’ve been with since the beginning. It started out with just the lead singer, Mike, and then he acquired some band members- Adam, Eric, and Richard, and thus TMTTP was formed! Richard left the band a couple months ago, and they picked up Jon, and they’ve been doing great since. Their music is pretty sweet, and they even have a music video (which I’m in, by the way- yep). I’ve known them for over 2 years and they’re super sweet guys, and they put on a great show. You should definitely check them out!
The Treble is amazing! Their sound is a bit different than stuff I usually listen to, but I love them. They’re catchy and very upbeat. A personal favorite of mine is M.I.A. It’s a great song. The guys are super sweet too, and they do a lot of work and shows for charity. I personally love them and definitely think you should check them out. Plus, their style is awesome.
The All Night
These guys, unfortunately, are currently on hiatus. They haven’t broken up yet, so there’s still some hope! Regardless, they produced some awesome music. They’ve had quite a few band member changes, but are great nonetheless. These guys are more of a rock band, and was formed by 3 of the members previously in Crisis Jane (another band I will recommend). I am absolutely in love with their music, and their songs always get stuck in my head. You should definitely check these guys out as well!
Me Versus:
So, this is Me Versus. As far as I know, they’ve broken up. I still really enjoy their music, and all of the members are so sweet. The members all originated in different bands from this list, and formed together to create this awesome pop-rock band. Also they’re pretty attractive, if I do say so myself. Their music is so much fun to dance and rock out to, and they perform great shows live. So you should definitely check them out!
Waster
So… Waster. What can I say about Waster? Waster is a band which was formed by 90% of the members from a separate band, Fame. I personally have not been to quite as many of their shows, but the ones I have been to, I really enjoyed! They’re more of a heavier rock band, with a lot of screaming and guitar shredding, a bit different from the other bands on this list. Still, I love their songs, and personally, I really like this band. So check them out!
Mike Burnard
This is the link to Mike’s facebook page, but he keeps forgetting to update it.. so the link to his myspace (with more songs on it) is right here. I’ve known Mike for more than 3 years now and he still manages to make me smile. His music is mostly acoustic stuff that he wrote and played himself, and his songs always make me smile. He’s an amazing guy, and I personally really, really love his music. You should definitely check this guy out, I’ve been listening to his music for 3 years and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon!
Crisis Jane
(The link to their myspace with all of their music can be found here.) CRISIS JANE. Man… what can I say about Crisis Jane? These guys are the reason I got into local music in the first place. I saw them perform at the very first local show I ever went to, and they were so nice and welcoming and friendly. After that I never missed a show! Sadly, they broke up two years ago, and although I miss them a shitload, their music still makes me happy. Their music is great, and their tour vlogs are hilarious. They were my favorite band for a good year, and it was devastating when they broke up. Needless to say, you should definitely give these guys a listen, because they’re really amazing and incredible! :)
Adam Hanney
This kid is pretty talented!! He’s only 17, but he has, in my opinion, a super cool, unique voice. He also plays guitar, harmonica, the banjo, and probably many other instruments that I’ve never heard of. His songs are pretty upbeat and cheerful, and he’s a super cool guy! You should check him out, because his songs will probably make you smile.
Forever I
This is one of the heavier bands- screaming and more guitar riffs and such, but I love them! They’re pretty sweet, and they’re great to headbang to. I haven’t been to many of their shows, but as far as I’ve seen, they’re pretty amusing to watch on stage, they have planned dance moves that they do. I enjoy their music a lot, so check them outtt!
Andrew Mitchell
Man, what can I say about Andrew? This guy is awesome. He plays acoustic music, and his songs are pretty awesome. He is a super sweet guy, I’ve talked to him a lot, and he really seems to enjoy playing music. My personal favorite by him is Carousel Ride- give it a listen! He’s a pretty great guy and his music makes me smile, so check him out!
Brighter, Brightest
Brighter, Brightest!! I haven’t seen these guys live very many times as they’re from Ontario, but they’re fantastic. They’re pretty famous for a more local band, you can catch them on muchmusic. Their music is amazing, it’s upbeat and catchy. Plus, the guys are super friendly, and they put on a great show! So definitely check them out!!
Everyone Everywhere
Ah, jeez. These guys are hilarious. I swear, they just write songs about whatever shit comes to their mind. I’ve seen them live a few times, and they’re pretty great to see- they’ll crack jokes at each other and just generally have fun. Their music is great too, if you’re not busy laughing at the hilariously random lyrics. So check this band out, cause they’re pretty sweet.
Final Thought
WELL! Final Thought. These guys are more of a pop rock band, but they’re pretty catchy all the same. Their songs are super fun to dance to, and they’ll get stuck in your head pretty quick. They put on a fantastic show, and they’re (again) really sweet in person. So definitely give them a listen!
This Party Sucks
This Party Sucks is …. slightly on hiatus right now. They had some problems involving band members leaving, so they’re currently writing new material and figuring out what to do. Still, their music is pretty fun and awesome. These guys are a bit younger than usual (their guitarist is 16- the kid can SHRED!), but they’re still awesome, and they’re pretty cool guys. So check them out!
This is a pretty great band. I’ve seen them live a few times, and they always put on an awesome show!! Unfortunately they don’t have a bandpage up and running on their facebook, but if you scroll down a bit, you can find their songs. I actually really enjoy their music and I think they’re pretty great, so you should give them a listen!
Blame The Television
(Their music can be found here.) Well…. this band has been broken up for a while. Needless to say, their music is still pretty good. Personally, my favorite song is Second Star, because it’s about Peter Pan! These guys were pretty entertaining to watch live and their music is enjoyable, and even though they’re no longer together, you should still give them a listen!
Final Avenue
(Their music can be found here.) This band is what came to be after Blame The Television broke up. This band, sadly, is also broken up now. Their music still stays good though, and though it’s very similar to Blame The Television’s music, it’s a slight bit different. I still enjoy it, and again, you should give them a listen!
Hundredfold
Ahhh… these guys really haven’t been around in a while. They didn’t necessarily break up, they just kind of drifted apart. Regardless, their music is awesome. A personal favorite is Paper Sun. These guys are pretty great, and they’re really nice in person. Their music is really well done, and it’s really good. So you should totally check these guys out as well!
Maximum Sixty
(Their music can be found here.) Wow… their music is… different. But super enjoyable! It’s really upbeat, and you’ll find instruments like the keyboard and trumpet featured in their songs. Definitely a different sort of music style, but I really like it. Also, their stage presence is AMAZING. They really interact with the crowd, and the lead singer, Brendan, has a fantastic voice. These guys are pretty great, so you should check them out, and definitely check out one of their shows if you get the chance!
Now these guys are located in Manchester. I can’t remember exactly how I found them, but I’m glad I did! Their music is really great. I couldn’t tell you how they are live, but I love their music. It’s really well done, and their songs really make you bob your head along and play air guitar. So definitely give these guys a look!
Moments of Brilliance
These guys have been broken up for a really long time, but they were together for quite a while. Their songs are pretty good, and although you may not understand what the singer (Jared) is saying, you’ll still enjoy the music! For realsies though, these guys are great, and I’m disappointed I didn’t get into our local scene soon enough to attend their shows. So check them out!
Jeez. These guys have been broken up for 3 years now, but they were so great. These guys were my first local concert ever, and thanks to their drummer Jonny, he really made us feel welcome. They were together for a really long time, and I’m glad I got to catch the last year of the band being together. Their music is amazing, of course, and you should seriously give them a listen. I recommend Sway, it’s a personal favorite of mine, along with Chemical Weather. So give these guys a listen as well, because they were great guys and a great band.
Sooo, yeah! These are the bands I can think of off the top of my head. I realize I basically said the exact same thing about every band but it’s just that they’re all so epic. XD I’ll probably end up adding more as I remember them! YOU SHOULD TOTALLY LISTEN TO ALL OF THESE BANDS BECAUSE THEY’RE ALL AMAZING AND BECAUSE I SAID YOU SHOULD.
